My proposal story was nothing like I'd imagined, but it was perfect in its own way. Finn and I had been together for three years, and we'd always joked about how neither of us was the "grand gesture" type. So when he suggested a weekend camping trip to Wilson's Prom, I didn't think twice. We spent the day hiking, and as the sun started to set, we found a quiet spot overlooking the ocean. Finn seemed a bit fidgety, which I chalked up to exhaustion from the hike. As we sat there, munching on trail mix and watching the sky turn pink, he suddenly blurted out, "I can't wait anymore. Will you marry me?" He fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a ring box, nearly dropping it in his nervous excitement. I was so surprised I started laughing and crying at the same time. Of course, I said yes! It wasn't a flash mob or a fancy restaurant, but it was us – just us, nature, and a lifetime promise. We spent the rest of the evening stargazing and planning our future, and I wouldn't change a thing about it.
