As John and I marked two beautiful years of marriage, I still felt like we were deeply in the honeymoon phase. Even the little things, like making breakfast together on weekends or showering each other with silly kisses, filled me with joy. I had been smiling so much since our wedding day that my face must have frozen this way. John was as compassionate and fun-loving as when we first met, making me fall for him more each day. To celebrate, he surprised me with a weekend getaway to a secluded cabin in the mountains. As we watched the sunset, I felt entirely content. John then presented an eternity band, its simple diamond glittering with promises never to part. Slipping it onto my finger to join my wedding ring, my heart so full.
