For our crystal anniversary, Michael surprised me with a winter trip to the snowy High Tatras mountains in Slovakia. We spent a magical week snowshoeing through frozen forests dusted with powdery snow, taking cable cars up for breathtaking views of ice-capped peaks, and cozying up by the fire in the charming alpine town of Štrbské Pleso. One afternoon while sipping hot chocolate by the frozen Štrbské Pleso lake, Michael thanked me for our two wonderful daughters. He said he still gets butterflies when he sees me, just like we were teenagers again falling in love in our small hometown all those years ago. To mark our 15 years together, we attended a traditional bonfire festival in a nearby village. Slow dancing to the lively folk music under a dazzling carpet of stars surrounded by snow-capped mountains, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude for this kind, fun-loving man. Our adventures across the world always feel more magical experiencing them by Michael's side in every season. I cherish this life we've built as soulmates.
