We met in medical school and bonded over our passion for science and helping others. Marco knows how much I appreciate my work, but also values making time for rest and travel. Every anniversary, he always surprised me. This year, on our 4th anniversary, Marco planned a weekend in our favorite city. On Saturday evening we set off on a leisurely walk along the Neckar River. We admired the illuminated ruins of the castle and churches lit up along the hillside. As we wandered narrow cobblestone streets, Marco revealed little notes in each storefront we passed, recounting special memories from our years together. By the last page, I was overcome with emotion. Though our careers keep us busy, these quiet moments with the man I love nourish my soul. Back home, Marco had one more surprise - concert tickets for our favorite musicians. As the music washed over us, I felt grateful for his understanding, humor and unwavering support. Our bond will only continue to thrive as the years pass.
