It's hard to believe it's been 8 years since Maya agreed to be my wife, nearly a decade. We met while she was backpacking through New Zealand - one look into her soulful brown eyes and I was a goner. To celebrate, I arranged a weekend getaway to a remote cabin with breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains in the distance. Maya and I spent hours admiring the scenery, finding new beauty in the landscape we had come to cherish together. Back home, our girls greeted us with handmade cards. Though my job has risks, coming back to my family is what makes it all worthwhile. Eight years on, my love for Maya has only deepened. I feel blessed beyond words for the life we've built.
