For our 6th anniversary, I wanted to do something memorable but also low-key since we were both exhausted from work.
For our 6th anniversary, I wanted to do something memorable but also low-key since we were both exhausted from work. Jason had mentioned wanting to try stargazing, so I packed us a picnic dinner and blankets to spend the evening at Elk Island National Park, which has very little light pollution. When we arrived just before sunset, I had Jason help set up our picnic on a hill overlooking a prairie pond. We opened a bottle of wine and fed each other cheese, fruit and crusty bread as the sky turned pink and orange. As it got darker, the sky filled with more stars than I had ever seen living in the city. Jason showed me constellations through his telescope and I was in awe. After dinner, we cuddled under the blankets gazing up at the Milky Way. It was so peaceful to be alone together under the vast night sky. How lucky I was to have found someone as kind, smart and adventurous as Jason. He always supports my dreams and makes me feel cherished. I turned to him and we shared a long, loving kiss under the stars. It was the perfect, romantic way to reflect on six wonderful years as soulmates.
