Lars had a special surprise planned for our 2nd wedding anniversary.
For our 2nd wedding anniversary, Lars had a special surprise planned. That Saturday morning, I awoke to find Lars had packed a bag for each of us. "I've booked us a cabin getaway. No work calls for the next few days, I promise," he said with a grin. We piled into our car and drove for a few hours into the forested hills. The cabin was rustic but cozy, situated on a tranquil lake. The next few days passed lazily - taking hikes to admire wildflowers, picnics on the shore, reading side by side in a hammock as the sun dappled through trees. At night we stargazed from a rowboat, sharing stories and laughter that carried over the water. All too soon it was time to return to reality. But those few days in our secluded paradise, disconnected from responsibilities, rekindled the romance we'd felt when we first fell in love. I think of our forest anniversary often, a special gift from Lars that will stay in my heart forever.
