Seraphina and I first crossed paths at a local art exhibition in the heart of Asheville. I was there to capture the event, while she, a promising sculptor, was showcasing her exquisite pieces. Amid the sea of people, I spotted her - a radiant figure, her eyes sparkling with the same intensity as the ruby she wore around her neck. It was love at first sight, or should I say, love at first 'shot.' For our 40th anniversary, the ruby anniversary, we decided to do something that mirrored our shared passion for art and creativity. We embarked on a journey to the city where we first met - the vibrant Asheville. In the spirit of nostalgia and celebration, we decided to recreate some of our most cherished memories. The highlight of our celebration was a visit to the very art exhibition where our paths had first intertwined. I had arranged a special exhibit, a surprise for Seraphina, showcasing forty photographs. Each photograph was a captured moment from each year of our marriage, moments that defined us, that made us who we are. The final piece was a photograph of Seraphina from our first meeting, her eyes sparkling, the ruby necklace adorning her neck. As she walked through the exhibition, her eyes welled up with tears, reflecting the love and memories that each photograph held. Our 40th anniversary was not just a celebration of our love but a testament to our journey together. As a photographer, I've learned that it's not just about the picture, but the story that each frame tells.
