For our 10th anniversary, François surprised me with a weekend getaway to a grassland.
For our 10th anniversary, François surprised me with a weekend getaway to a grassland. As an artist, I am always inspired by natural landscapes and François knew this type of landscape would take my breath away. The rolling hills of grass seemed to go on forever under big blue skies. On our second day, François packed a picnic lunch and we hiked deep into the grasslands. We found a secluded spot overlooking a meadow of wildflowers waving in the breeze. It was so peaceful and beautiful that I was overcome with gratitude for the life we have built together. As we sat eating, François turned to me and said "Isabelle, this last decade has been the happiest of my life because I have had you by my side. I love you more today than ever before." I will never forget that perfect moment, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world with the man who has been my rock. That grasslands picnic is etched in my memory as a reminder of the bond François and I share, which only grows stronger every year.
