I met Emma in this cute little coffee shop by the beach. I was sitting there totally frustrated with my laptop that wouldn't work, and she came over to help. She made this really dorky joke about my laptop "catching a virus from the sea" - and honestly, that's when I knew she was special. It turned out we both were super into anything beach-related. She works with sea animals, which was perfect since I'm a lawyer who deals with environmental stuff. We spent like every weekend at the beach, checking out tiny sea creatures in the rock pools and helping clean up trash (yeah, we're those eco-friendly people!). At our three-year anniversary, Emma wanted to go for a walk on the beach at sunset - you know, at our usual spot. I was kind of freaking out because I had this ring box in my pocket, trying to act normal but probably failing miserably. We stopped at this spot that's really special to us - it's where we once found this lost sea turtle and helped get it back to the ocean. Emma suddenly pointed out at the water, saying she saw something. While she was looking out there (spoiler: there wasn't actually anything to see), I quickly got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. The sunset made everything look amazing, like something out of a movie. I tried to say something romantic like "Emma, I love you more and more every day, just like the tides keep coming back" - honestly, I was so nervous I probably messed up the words. But it didn't matter because she started crying (happy tears!) and said yes right away. Actually, she said "yes" like a bunch of times and gave me this huge hug.
