I know people say dating apps don't work, but that's actually how I met Sophie - and it totally worked out! Our first FaceTime call was supposed to be like 30 minutes, but we ended up talking for four hours straight. We talked about all kinds of stuff - I'm really into classical music, and she loves art. It was just so easy to talk to her. We started doing these super cute virtual dates. I'd play my violin while she painted, which sounds kind of cheesy, but it was actually really fun. We made it work, even though we were in different cities. So, this Valentine's Day was pretty special - it was the first time we actually met in person! Sophie flew in to see me, and finally getting to go on a real date was just... wow. We went to this really nice little Italian place for dinner. It was kind of funny because everything felt different but also totally familiar at the same time? Like, we'd talked so much online, but now we could actually share a meal instead of just looking at each other through our phones. After dinner, we went to see this rom-com at the movies. Just sitting there holding hands (which we obviously couldn't do on video calls!), everything felt so right. There was this sweet part in the movie where Sophie put her head on my shoulder, and I just had this feeling like "yeah, this is it." It's pretty wild how you can meet someone online and then have it feel so real and natural when you finally meet. Sometimes the best things happen when you least expect them, right?
