All those years ago when we got married, we had barely a penny to our names.
All those years ago when we got married, we had barely a penny to our names. While our love was rich, a big wedding was beyond our means. As our 17th anniversary approached, I wanted to give Maggie the celebration she deserved. I arranged to have our backyard decorated like a lush garden aisle, with string lights overhead. When the big day arrived, I our three children appeared dressed as flower girls and ring bearers. We exchanged new vows with tears in our eyes, surrounded by loving family and friends. As Maggie and I danced our first dance amongst the twinkling lights, she kept thanking me for making her dreams of being a bride come true, even after so many years. Our love story may have had a humble start, but in each other's arms with the life we've built, we've always felt rich. This anniversary surprise was one I'll cherish forever.
