It was a crisp autumn afternoon, the kind that makes you want to curl up with a warm drink. Mateo and I decided to take a walk in the park, which was bursting with vibrant reds and golds. The leaves crunched under our feet as we strolled, chatting about everything and nothing, just enjoying each other’s company. As we reached a quiet spot by the pond, Mateo suddenly got quiet. I turned to him and saw he was fiddling with something in his pocket. My heart raced; I thought maybe he was going to surprise me with a little gift. Instead, he pulled out a small black box and dropped to one knee. I was completely taken aback! He looked up at me with those earnest eyes and asked if I would marry him. I could hardly breathe, but I managed to squeak out a “Yes!” as tears of joy streamed down my face. After he slipped the ring onto my finger, we just sat there for a moment, soaking it all in. That simple park, surrounded by nature’s beauty, became our special place, forever etched in our hearts.
