Mark and I couldn't believe another year had passed.
Mark and I couldn't believe another year had passed. As I watched Mark work in the garden, his wedding band had already been very old, That night over dinner, I presented Mark with a gift-wrapped box. Inside were two shiny new wedding bands - engraved with "Forever yours". His eyes widened in surprise at the sentimental gift. As I slid the cool metal onto his finger, replacing the band that had faded over decades of memories, Mark's eyes welled up. We clasped hands, admiring how our rings now matched once more after so many years. Though our bodies may not be as spry as before, our love and commitment to one another has stood the test of time. As Mark swept me into his arms for a dance around the kitchen, I felt truly blessed for the compassionate life partner who had walked by my side since that fateful day in the rain so long ago. Our future, like our love, shone bright together.
