I couldn't believe I was finally 18 - it felt like a big milestone. All morning, texts from friends about plans had me bubbling with excitement. That evening, my boyfriend Zach picked me up for the surprise party he planned. Arriving at the beach house, I found it decorated with balloons, banners and all our favorite foods. As guests showered me with hugs and "Happy Birthdays", Zach watched on proudly. After we sang and I blew out candles, Zach pulled me aside shyly, pulling out a velvet box. Nestled inside was the butterfly pendant necklace, shimmering wings dazzling in the light. With tears in my eyes, I kissed Zach softly. I beamed, handing him the necklace to clasp around my neck. Eighteen was sure to be our best yet.
