Thomas and I have known each other since grade school. As we grew into adults, friendship developed into sparks neither expected. A year ago, surrounded by our families and closest companions, we pledged our lives to one another amongst a backdrop of lush green hills.To celebrate our first wedding anniversary, Thomas surprised me with a trip to visit my family home - a place I've longed to return to since our busy year began. That evening, back to our cozy home, Thomas presented my gift. In his hands rested an elegant wedding band. Slipping it onto my finger to sit beside my wedding ring, tears welled remembering how far we've come.
