Franco and I had an instant connection the moment we met three years ago in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Though we lived oceans apart, with me in Miami and Franco in Paris, our chance encounter sparked a whirlwind romance. Every moment we could get together, whether in Puerto Rico again or through long calls and video chats, we cherished. On Valentine's Day, I flew out to surprise Franco in Paris. After a romantic dinner at a charming bistro along the Seine, Franco led me to our favorite spot in the city - the Eiffel Tower. As we gazed out at the sparkling lights of the city of love, Franco got down on one knee and pulled out a small velvet box. "Mara, you are my soulmate. Will you marry me?" he asked. Through happy tears, I said "Yes!" Our enduring cross-cultural love story was about to begin a new chapter. Franco and I were ecstatic to start planning our life together.
