On Saturday morning, he packed us a picnic and suggested a hike. The trail led up a grassy hill overlooking the island. When we reached the top, Michael had laid out a blanket under the shade of a single tree. He made my favorite dish and opened a bottle of wine. We ate with the breathtaking vista stretched out before us - rolling hills dotted with vineyards, the glinting ocean in the distance. As the sun started to sink low in the sky, it cast a golden glow over the landscape. Michael pulled me close and we slow danced to music, gazing out over the sweeping views. The wind swept over the hilltop as the sun dipped below the horizon in a spectacular show of color. Being in that special place, sharing that moment with the man I love, really captured the magic of Waiheke and the beauty of our relationship.
