Elva and I met during our senior year at a campus bonfire. An instant spark flew between us that wouldn't fade even after graduation. In the year since, her bright spirit and sharp wit have filled my days with joy. To celebrate Elva's birthday, I invited a few of our closest friends to tag along for the festivities. At her favorite local brewpub, we were talking and laughing over inside jokes. I thanked Elva for the joy and light she brings to my world. Reaching into a gift bag, she gasped seeing the petite gemstone bear stud earrings inside, sparkling in her eyes like her bright spirit. Though the future remains unwritten, I feel lucky to experience whatever is next hand in hand with this remarkable woman. Many more birthdays of creating new memories to celebrate.
