We booked a weekend getaway in Portland, Oregon. The city was dressed in holiday lights and decorations, with a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. We spent our days wandering the shops along downtown streets and taking in the views at Tom McCall Waterfront Park along the river. In the evenings we'd cozy up by the fireplace in our hotel with hot cocoa, playing board games and reminiscing about our life together so far. It's not often that we get to experience winter. The snow and slower pace of life in Portland was a welcome change of scenery. More than anything I treasured the quality time with Jacob, disconnected from our busy lives and obligations. Four years later, our love and commitment to each other feels stronger than ever. I'm grateful we made the effort to celebrate another year together, even if it was just in a romantic winter escape a short flight away.
