We met 5 years ago volunteering on a beach cleanup project. Even in filthy waders, I was struck by her beauty and passion for the ocean. For our second wedding anniversary, I planned a beachside camping trip to our favorite protected cove. Hannah was surprised, since I'm not usually one for roughing it. But I wanted to revisit the special place where we connected, under the stars. We spent the day exploring tide pools and cataloging wildlife. As the sun fell, we popped open wine around a driftwood fire. Stargazing, Hannah pointed out constellations while I gazed at her in wonderment. The next morning, I awoke to find Hannah had tracked tiny paw prints in the sand. A rare beach fox pup had visited! Hannah's smile lit up the shore. In that moment, witnessing her unbridled joy in nature, I fell in love with her all over again. This beach holds our passion for science, and for each other close to our hearts.
