Jane and I met over 57 years ago, in our small rural town in the 1950s. I was helping out my father on our farm, while Jane worked as a teacher at the one-room schoolhouse. One sunny spring day, our paths crossed at the general store, and I was attracted by her kind smile and witty conversation. Despite coming from different backgrounds, I began courting - I'd bring her flowers from the field after school let out. On drives under the stars in my old pickup truck, our love blossomed. After a year, I popped the question with my mother's wedding ring. We married the following summer in a modest ceremony with our families. Through the decades since, we've faced joys and hardships together - raising children, building our little homestead, and growing roots in this community through thick and thin. Now in our golden years, surrounded by all we've created, I feel grateful beyond words for the lifetime of love and partnership Jane has given me every single day.
