Noah and I love animals, so when he suggested we volunteer at the local shelter on a Saturday, I didn't think twice. We were playing with the dogs when Noah suddenly got quiet. He knelt down, pretending to tie his shoe, and called over this adorable golden retriever. To my surprise, there was a little pouch attached to the dog's collar. Noah untied it and pulled out a ring. "Lily," he said, his voice shaking, "you've made my life better in every way. Will you marry me?" I was speechless! Tears streaming down my face, I nodded and hugged him tight. The dog started licking our faces, making us laugh through our tears. It was perfectly us – surrounded by wagging tails and wet noses. We ended up adopting that golden retriever, our little matchmaker.
