Julian and I were both so busy with work that we nearly forgot our first anniversary. A week before, I realized we hadn’t made any plans. In a bit of a panic, I suggested we go on a little getaway to the mountains. He loved the idea! We packed our bags and headed to a cozy cabin in the woods. The moment we arrived, the smell of pine and fresh air filled my lungs, and I felt instantly relaxed. That evening, Julian cooked a candlelit dinner on the porch. He whipped up my favorite dish and paired it with a bottle of wine we’d saved for a special occasion. After dinner, we sat by the fire, wrapped in blankets, reminiscing about our wedding day. I remember laughing so hard when he tried to reenact our first dance—it was hilariously awkward! As the stars twinkled above us, he surprised me with a delicate necklace he’d picked out, saying it reminded him of our shared love for nature. That weekend was everything I hoped it would be: intimate, fun, and full of love. It reminded me that sometimes the best moments are those spent together, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
