For our anniversary, we had a happy time on the beach.

For our anniversary, we had a happy time on the beach. As soon as we arrived and saw the stretch of powder white sand lined with palm trees swaying in the breeze, I was instantly transported to a slice of paradise. We spent the afternoon relaxing in the shade of the palms, listening to the rhythmic crash of the waves while catching up on the latest happenings in each other's lives. That evening, Ahmed built a bonfire as the sun dipped low on the horizon, setting the sky ablaze with color. Around the fire, he laid out a picnic dinner with all my favorite foods. As we fed each other bites between laughs and lingering looks, I felt overcome with gratitude and love for the life we are building together. After filling our bellies, we walked along the shore hand in hand, watching the moon rise and paint a glistening pathway across the water. As the stars emerged one by one above us, Ahmed squeezed me close and thanked me for the commitment, joy and partnership I've given him over these past 6 years. Returning to the beach, surrounded by the palm trees swaying in the balmy tropical breeze, nourished our bond and allowed us to see anew why we fell in love all those years ago. I feel so lucky to make these memories with Ahmed and look forward to many more anniversaries together.
